Twin Paradox
The
“Twin Paradox” is the outcome of Time Dilation in relativity. Let's consider an
imaginary experiment involving twin brothers Ram and Sham. The explorer twin
Ram goes on a space expedition leaving his brother Sham behind on the Earth.
The age of both of them is 25 years at that instant. The speed of his spaceship
is nearly equal to the speed of light. After a year Ram returns to the Earth to
celebrate his 26th birthday. Upon his return, he is 26 years old but
he is very much surprised to find that his brother Sham is 80 years old now. It
means that while Sham aged 54 years old, Ram aged only 1 year old during his
period of space voyage. This paradox rebels our thinking. Now, how to calculate
the age difference in the twins at this moment? It's not something we can
easily answer. The appropriate response relies upon precisely how quick the
rocket into which Ram went to space undertaking, has been moving and speeding
up. So Let us say that Ram visited an exoplanet which is 15 to 30 light- years
away. Then in order to meet Sham before he dies, Ram needs to move with a speed
near to the speed of light (i.e. 3 Lakh Km per second).
According
to Einstein’s Theory of Relativity, motion through space creates modifications
in the flow of time. You will move slowly across the fourth dimension i.e. Time
relative to another object, when you move faster along the remaining three
dimensions of space. Time is estimated diversely for the twin who traveled
through space and the twin who remained on the Earth. The clock of Ram who is
in motion will tick more slowly than the clock for Sham who is on the Earth.
The phenomenon is more effective if Ram starts to move with a speed similar to
the speed of light.
One
of the physics experiments confirmed that the fast-moving muon particles take
longer to decay.
This means that in contrast to the Twin Paradox, time expansion is certifiably
not a psychological test or a speculative idea – it's genuine.
