Dedicated Freight Corridor

Image
The Ministry of Railways, under the direction of the Indian Government, had taken up the dedicated freight corridor (DFC) project. The project involves the construction of six freight corridors traversing the entire country. The purpose of the project is to provide a safe and efficient freight transportation system. Initially, the construction of two freight corridors, the Western DFC connecting the states of Haryana and Maharashtra and the  Eastern DFC  connecting the states Punjab and West Bengal, is being undertaken. The combined length of the Western and Eastern DFCs is approximately 2,843km. The total cost of the project is estimated at $11.38bn. It is expected to become operational between 2019 and 2021. The other four corridors include North-South (Delhi-Tamil Nadu), East-West (West Bengal-Maharashtra), East-South (West Bengal-Andhra Pradesh) and South-South (Tamil Nadu-Goa). These four corridors are still in the planning stage. In 2006, the Government of India establish

Introduction to Machine Learning

Image
Machine learning provides guidelines to computers to try to what comes naturally to humans, animals and provides instructions to find out from experience. Machine learning algorithms are used to learn the data and process it using computational methods. These algorithms are responsible to increase the performance of sample methods required for learning the computers. Machine learning algorithms are responsible for finding natural patterns in data that generate insight and it will help you make better decisions and predictions. They are used a day to form critical decisions in diagnosis, stock trading, and energy load forecasting, and more. Machine learning comes in 3 types: Supervised learning- this is a basic type of machine learning. This algorithm is based on labeled data. This is the task-driven type of learning. The data must be labeled accurately for this method to work, this learning is very effective and powerful when used in the right conditions. In this type of learn

Structural Engineering

Image
Structural engineering is the branch of Civil Engineering in which theory is based upon physical laws and empirical knowledge of the structural performance of different materials. Structural engineering design utilizes a number of simple structural elements to build complex structural systems. Structural engineering is a specialty within the field of civil engineering which focuses on the framework of structures, and on designing those structures to withstand the stresses and pressures of their environment and remain safe, stable and secure throughout their use. In other words, structural engineers make sure that buildings don't fall down and bridges don't collapse.  Critical skills that a person needs in structural engineering include an in-depth understanding of physics and mathematics. A structural engineer must also know the properties of various materials, such as their density, hardness, tensile strength, bulk modulus and bending strength. They need to be able to calculat

The Barsi Light Railway

Image
The Barsi Light Railway between Latur and Miraj in Maharashtra was a pre-independence private company.) And set up a private company with a share capital of Rs. 7,014,477. The company's office was permanently located at Winchester House, Broad street, London. The Narrow-Gauge Railway, 2 feet 6 inches wide, was started on March 1, 1897, just 9 feet wide along Kurduwadi Barshi Road. The company's India office was initially located in Barshi and later in Kurduwadi. A. L. Alexander was appointed chief manager and agent. The duo of Alexander and Calthrop brought BLR a golden day by night. His salary was 2200 and 1500 rupees per month. Initially built only for Barshi Road (Kurduwadi) to Barshi, it grew to 323 km from Latur to Miraj in 1927, becoming the largest private narrow gauge railway in India. Due to the Warakaris going to Pandharpur, this vehicle was called the vehicle of God. Even on Ashadi Ekadashi, people used to sit not only on the train tracks but also in front of t
